Knitting Magazine
No. 41 for Spring/Summer 2007 from Rowan Yarns

| Rowan
Knitting and Crochet Magazine No. 41 (ZM41) features
handknitting and crochet designs from Kaffe Fassett, Martin
Storey, Marie Wallin, Sarah Dallas, Antoni & Alison, Sarah
Hatton, Leah Sutton, Sharon Miller, Brandon Mably, Lois Daykin,
Gabrielle Carter and Nina Chakkour.
The new Spring/Summer season is inspired by a strong yearning
for simplicity and naturalness. At a time of environmental,
economic and political uncertainty, we see fashion returning
to nature, honesty and security. To reflect this need for
simplicity, Rowan is promoting three stories for Spring 2007;
Secret Garden, Medinas & Minarets and Promenade, Each
of the stories is simply styled and showcases garments which
are both beautiful and easy to wear. This season we also see
the introduction of a new yarn within the magazine: `Damask'
is a lovely linen and viscose blend and will be available
in eight subtle, space dyed shades.

| Story
1 - Secret
Garden
is inspired by a very feminine, pretty feel influenced by
vintage lace and antique decoration. The mood of the hidden,
slightly overgrown, enchanted garden in full bloom evokes
a romantic atmosphere. Colour direction comes from the delicate
use of the shades found in faded garden flowers. These gently
graduate from soft, pale blues through to the prettiest pinks
and mauve hues. Beautifully photographed and styled in the
magical gardens of Trist House, Veryan in Cornwall by Kristin
Perers.

Story
2 - Medinas & Minarets is inspired by the vibrant
collision of influences ranging from the diverse patterning
of Moorish art and decoration through to travel, exploration
and adventures of the past. Colours range from the warm, rich
tones of orange and red which are then balanced by the restrained
darker shades of brown, green and blue. Dramatically photographed
in Marrakech, Morocco by Gisela Torres and simply styled by
Marie Wallin & Sarah Hatton.

Story
3 - Promenade is inspired by the British seaside of
the 1940's and 1950's. This is a sophisticated but fun holiday
look with a hint of glamour. Classic preppy styles give a younger,
more relaxed and care free feel. Colouring is intluenced by
the sugary brights of beach huts, deck chairs and seaside cottages.
The palette is highlighted by the strong, classic look of white,
black and navy. Cheerily photographed by Chris Bracewell in
Southwold, Suffolk and beautifully styled by Louise Sykes.

Our
staff have had many years experience of working with Rowan
yarns. Rowan designs never date but sometimes the colours
and qualities that were once the original designs, have to
be substituted; we can advise on the nearest shades.
We stock
the entire Rowan handknitting range. Please see our
Rowan stock list. |
