This collection of Kim Hargreaves’ designs edited by Kate Buller, offers an opportunity for fans of Kim to revisit some of her vintage designs from the Rowan archive. Kim is the undisputed master of simple classic knits, in whatever form. Her unrivalled sense of style helped to build Rowan’s profile as a major yarn company from the late 1980s. During her time as senior designer at Rowan she not only created some truly great knits, but helped to choose the yarns and colour palette and put her stamp on the photography as well.
The designs in this book, mainly from the seminal Rowan magazines, include both winter and summer knits, and a few designs for men too (as well as one which converts into a child’s pattern). The yarns for most of the designs are still available. The few that are not have suggested substitutes that knit to a very similar tension from Rowan’s new yarn range.
