Rowan’s 30th Anniversary
Workshop And Exhibition
at
North Light Gallery, Armitage Bridge, Huddersfield
Two day workshop to run Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September 2008
Commencing at 9.30am and concluding at 4pm on both days
Over the years
Rowan has endeavoured to produce innovative and exciting knitwear
designs. Right from the early days we pushed the knitting boundaries,
designers such as Kaffe Fassett provided incredible images of colour
knitting whilst more recently Debbie Abrahams has wowed us with
her beaded throw designs.
The number
of publications we have produced in order to entice the knitter
are almost endless and our colourful, textural and quality yarn
ranges have always enticed knitters and crocheters of all abilities.
In 2008 it
will be our 30th Birthday so we are offering this extra special
workshop to run alongside our exciting anniversary exhibition which
will be held at The North Light gallery, just 4 miles from Rowan.
Over the course of two days, participants will be encouraged to
have a go at all the techniques seen in iconic designs of the past.
They will be able to produce samplers for each technique, such as
colour-work, beading and textural stitch work, which they can then
make up into either a bag or wall hanging to take home as a keepsake
of their weekend.
The exhibition
will feature a selection of iconic designs from key designers who
have helped create the uniqueness that is Rowan. The historical
trail will be a special touring exhibition of garments showcasing
inspirational designs from the Rowan Magazine 1 to present day featuring
garments from the past 30 years of Rowan. In conjunction with the
exhibition we will also be hosting this special anniversary workshop
weekend.
Proceedings
will kick off with a drinks reception and private viewing of the
exhibition on the Friday evening. Workshops will then be held in
the exhibition halls on the following two days. In addition to the
normal weekend workshop itinerary, we will be offering you the chance
to join us for a guided walk through the outstanding Yorkshire countryside
surrounding the Rowan Mill in Holmfirth on the Saturday evening.
You can choose to have a leisurely stroll or a more vigorous walk.
Throughout
the weekend current and past Rowan Designers will be on hand to
chat and sign publications, whilst the workshop tutors will be leading
Design Consultants and authors from the Rowan Team.
All materials will be provided, but please bring along your knitting
workbag which should contain various needle sizes, scissors, stitch
holders and sewing needles.
Lunch and refreshments
will be provided.
The prices
for this special anniversary workshop weekend are: £95.00
